Milan Fashion Week: Retaining that Italian Flavour

While the shows are wrapping up in Milan, many of the designers that have sent their summer collections down the runway thus far are channeling a big chunk of national pride. Italian culture: the food, the cinema stylings of the 50s, the dolce vita, are all coming out in a flurry of fruit prints and winged eyeliner. And we say yes to pasta necklaces! No other country really does cultural references with quite the same sense of fun and desirability. Now while a Moschino strawberry dress may not be everybody’s thing, how can one not fall in love with the Sicilian orange print dresses at Dolce and Gabbana – chic, ladylike and still sexy – or a hotrod applique skirt from Prada..
