Inspired by Eastern European Gypsies, Kirrily Johnston’s spring/summer 12/13 collection “The Romanies” pays homage to wanderlust, white magic, nature and freedom. The off-site location of Maurice Terzini’s Nield Avenue, played the perfect host to a cleverly feminine collection of psychedelic floral prints, subtle corsetry and structured leather pieces which we are sure will quickly become wardrobe staples for any woman-about-town.
Traditional techniques met new-world, when bold fuchsia and acid yellows united with feminine gowns, dresses and blouses. The key print story, “The Butterfly Field” was the star of the collection, featuring on floor skimming chiffon gowns, and elegant tiered long skirts.
Renya Xydis created two different hair-looks to complement the collection – a delicate dreadlock as well as soft, uneven buns. Natural nails were the perfect addition, created by Miss Frou Frou – they completely harmonized the look.
